Apologies

I wish to offer some apologies since I've made plans here at Elegance of Fashion which had to be broken.

1. I said that on December 19th I would bring back reviews after a quick break for finals, but I'm going to need a little more time.

2. I was going to participate in Yet Another Period Drama Blog's and Between the Covers's Jane Austen Birthday events, but didn't. I have that tags for both blogs written up in my drafts in Blogger, so I will be posting them sometime this week. Very sorry to Miss Dashwood and Eva-joy for not participating in their events.

Please be patient with me as I get organized again so I can fulfill the plans that I have made as best as I can.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sorry it's been a little Quiet... (Future Plans!)

Hey everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't been posting much other than the Period Drama Film Tournament. I haven't had too much to say or post lately, but hopefully that'll change.

I've been working on a couple of things to post about. As you might have guessed, I have been working on a special blog event (which I'm pretty sure a lot of my followers could participate in). I don't quite want to announce what it will be yet, but hopefully soon. It's still in the planning process, so be on the look-out for future announcements on this!
The other thing I've been working on is another special week... Wait, let me explain that. This will be different from the blog event that I've been planning. I'm going to be posting about a special topic for one week. It might be used for help in research projects (most teachers don't want you to list a source from a blog for papers/projects, so the intention of that week would be to point you into the right direction for research or to give you an idea where to take your research). I'm even going to list sources for each topic. I wouldn't expect this for quite a while: there's a lot of work that's going to be involved in it, but still keep an eye out for that week too!

So, remember when I mentioned that I was going to post about my top 10 favorite heroines? I'm thinking sometime next week I'll post that post. Maybe on Tuesday next week.

So that's pretty much it as far as what's new.

No Review Monday & Special Blog Post & etc.

Hi Everyone!

Just a couple of things going on.

1. There won't be a review on Monday this week: I haven't had much time to watch anything this week, but next week, hopefully I'll have a review.

2. I'm planning a very special post. I saw on a couple of blogs, the author had a post of their favorite heroines from different period dramas, so I thought I could do something like that.

3. Also, make sure you answer the questions about what you think of a special blog event at Elegance of Fashion. If you've already left a comment, I've just added another question that came into my mind if you would like to answer it. To see the questions and answer them, look at this post!

New Name! And New Layout Day Announced!

Some of my readers have suggested that I should choose a name, and I had agreed with them, but I always take so long with names! I always want to pick something good and something that I wouldn't want to change right away. Well, since Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel, and since I got Elizabeth Bennet in the "Which Jane Austen Heroine Are You?" quiz, and since Elizabeth Bennet is my favorite literary character, I have decided to call myself...

Miss Elizabeth Bennet!

And I've also got a new little icon! Of course, like in Pride and Prejudice, Miss Elizabeth Bennet could be shorten to Miss Bennet, Lizzy, Lizzy Bennet, Miss Eliza, Miss Lizzy, etc. I am also still okay if you would still like to call me Elegance of Fashion (I'm pretty flexible on this).

And, since my changes are coming along splendidly, I'm setting the layout day to June 8th! I'm also planning on have a couple of new banners, blog buttons, and little extras in addition to the changes that I've been working on.

Working on Some Big Changes!

I've been busy the past few days working on some changes to Elegance of Fashion. I've felt for a while now that I needed to change up Elegance of Fashion a little bit. Don't worry, I'm not changing anything in the way my blog is run: there are still going to be reviews, tournaments, banners, etc. I'm just trying to make everything look nicer and neater. I'm planning on some awesome changes, so stay tuned for some exciting new things! I'll announce when I'm going to release these changes.

One more day to vote... Information on Wild Card for Tournament... and Some Announcements

First on the list: there's only one more day to vote in Round 2 of "The Period Drama Hero Tournament", if you haven't voted yet, go do so now!

Wild Card: After Round 2, there will be a three day poll to decide the "wild card" for Round 3, which will bring back one hero that has already been eliminated. So if your favorite was voted out in a previous round, this is the opportunity to bring him back! You will be able to select more than one hero (if there are two or more heroes tied for the wild card, I'll randomly select one).

Other Announcements: I hadn't had an opportunity to write a review for this week, so there will be no review tomorrow. The week after, however, there should be a review. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Remember how I mentioned that at the blog Austenitis is doing a series of posts about Period Drama Actor/Actress doubles? Well, Charity U at Austenitis has put up another addition, this time with actresses. If you've seen such period dramas as Emma (2009), North and South, or Wives and Daughters, you will easily recognize the actresses that are presented in the new post. To view it, click here!

No Review this Week & Tournament

There will be no review this week since I will be starting the tournament tomorrow, but there will be a review next week.

Meanwhile, only one more day until the tournament! Would anyone like to venture any guesses on the contestants?

100th post!

This is my 100th post! Thank you everyone for reading my blog! Here are some period drama pictures!

Ah, yes... Lizzy visits Pemberly and Mr. Darcy shows up... I love this miniseries! (Review)

Gotta love this Sense and Sensibility! (Review)

Love this promotional picture from Emma. This is my favorite version of Emma. (Review)

Interesting miniseries. I reviewed it awhile back here.
If anyone is interested, if you remember Julia Sawalha from Pride and Prejudice or Cranford, you might be interested in Lark Rise to Candleford. She is one of the stars of this great show. I reccommend it! It's a really good show and is very easy to watch. If you haven't seen Series 1 but want to know more, here is my review (this was actually my first review back when Elegance of Fashion was in it's beginning months).

I love this dress/jumper from Wives and Daughters! (Review)

Thanks, everyone, for reading my blog! I truly appreciate all your support. Here's to many more blog posts!

Special thanks to Charity U at Photographer at Heart and Austenitis, Miss Laurie at Old Fashioned Charm, Sunny at Peering out My Window, and Melody at Regency Delight ~Jane Austen, etc. Check out their blogs!

Some Layout Changes

I had to play with the layout a little bit in order to accomodate the polls for the tournament. The polls will be at the left side bar. I put up a new side bar so that the polls would be closer to the top and easier to find. I also put up a test poll. It is a working poll, so if you wanted to vote in it, you could; that poll closes February 28th. Once the tournament is over, I plan on putting the layout back to the way it was (or close enough).

Period Drama Heroine Tournament Coming Soon!

I thought I would try something new. We've all see tournaments in sports: teams are randomly selected to play against each other and whoever wins goes to the next round until there is only one winner. So, I thought "Why not do this for period dramas?" Instead of the heroines competing in a sport, I'll put up polls for everyone to vote. In each poll, you can vote for one out of a selected number of random heroines (or main female characters, sometimes not always the heroine). Each round/poll will last for one week. The whole thing will last for about a month (give or take). The tournament will start on March 1st, a week from today.

In the meanwhile, if you would like to put some buttons up at your blog to spread the word about the tournament, here they are!

My First Award!

Wow, my first award! I want to thank Charity U at Austenitis for awarding me with this! It's such an honor!

Yay! Now for seven random facts about me:

  1. I taught myself to sew, embroider, tat, crochet, and cross-stitch.
  2. I'm fairly good at math.
  3. My favorite author is Jane Austen; my favorite books are in fact Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey.
  4. I love computers!
  5. I love BBC period dramas.
  6. I like reading classic literature (I find most books published after 1900 to not be very good)
  7. I also like to cook.
I'm suppose to award this award to 15 other bloggers. I'll do a couple; three seems like a good number:
  1. Photographer at Heart
  2. Peering Out My Window
  3. Regency Delight ~Jane Austen, etc.~
Now, what you should do:
    1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
    2. Share 7 things about yourself.
    3. Award fifteen recently discovered great bloggers.
    4. Contact the named bloggers and tell them they're awarded!
